Secondary V Features

Cap & Gown Ceremony

Every year there is a Cap and Gown Ceremony to honour the graduating class. The ceremony will be held on the Friday before June 24th every year. During this ceremony, the students receive various awards for academic achievement. Bursaries are also awarded.  The graduating class and the staff choose the Valedictorian who also participates at this ceremony.

Estelle Saunders Award

This may be given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding school spirit and leadership over the five years of Secondary schooling.  This student has also sustained a solid academic record.  The recipient is selected by the teachers and principal and is given this award during the annual Secondary 5 Cap and Gown ceremony.

Subject Prizes

At the annual Cap and Gown Ceremony, students are honoured for their achievement in the various subjects of the Secondary V program.

The Birks Medals

The Silver and Bronze medals may be awarded to the two students with the second and third highest academic standing (above 80%) in Secondary IV and Secondary V transcript marks.

Alliance Québec Bursary

Two awards of $1000.00 each are available to deserving students. Students must apply for the bursary and submit to an interview by a committee.  The criteria for this award include, but are not limited to, academic excellence, leadership, school participation, and teacher recommendations. The students must be attending a post-secondary institution the following school year.  Applications are available at the school office in May.
